marcusid: I missed (got tiny partial fills on both winners: FOSL and VNDA). This scenario occurred in the past. In both cases, I used a stop (at reccomended entry) and limit (a few cents above/below). The purpose is to avoid very bad fills (another problem in the past). It appears that, in the long run, I'd be better off using market orders to buy (or I could substantially increase the stop limit spread). Your thoughts please?

I'm considering active trader plans of Schwab, Fidelity, Think or Swim and E-Trade (I have used Interactive Brokers--while they have great rates and commissions, their fills have been really slow and customer service non-existant. Any comments, public or private, would be much appreciated.

marcusid: I have Trade Station, and trade with them daily. I also have an account with IB, and I tried to trade with them (just one day). It was very frustrating, and a weird platform. Aside from the platform issues, I placed trades at market and they filled, partially, sooooooooo slowly on active issues. It was wierd. So between the fills and the difficulty of the platform (believe me, its wierd for charting and just placing orders--you have to have the stock in your radar list, very cumbersone to do things on the fly). But, most people swear by IB--so maybe its just me. They have great commissions, a very favorable margin rate and the best sweep rate on idle money, currently about 5.4%!! (based on Libor less small discount).

Ricky I don't use charting as much as i should but once you get used to setting it up, with the studies, it's actually a very good system for charts. They have just about anything you need.
Ricky The thing with IB is that you can set up just about any kind of complex trade possible, but because they have so many different options available it's somewhat daunting when you start to use them. I've used them for about a year.

marcusid I know the "lunch hours" (low volume and counter-trends) is, generally between 11:30 and 1:30. I've gotten burned a lot holding positions during lunch. I'm thinking, going forward, exiting during the worst part of the lunch hours--and then re-entering the position after the low volume period if it still is attractive based on current price and market conditions. My question is this: what would be the true lunch hour (really unpredictable time based on low volume). ie 12 to 1:00. Just give me your "lunch hour(s)" opinions.

KillerTrade wizeman, I did the same thing on FOSL - I had my target at MY 1%, which was a few cents above ST's 1%.. ST's 1% of 35.63 ended up being the HOD for that time period, so my target was never hit

bigb it might work but stochs are nearing oversold, the daily trend is up, were starting to come out of lunch after a countertrend, and like scott said were at a good support level
