marcusid I got out with a profit, after a BIG loss! I didnt' try to pick a bottom, just wanted OUT. It also, because held overnight, reduced by 4 to 1 daytrade marginability, and I lost out on some nice trades/profits. For example, todays two winners, I could only take 1/2 of my normal positon.

marcusid If anybody's interested in knowing how I managed to pull out of profit with ITRN, let me explain. We shorted at about $11--I didn't have a stop in place. It shot to 11:80 in a hearbeat. I was down 8% in a sizeable position. I didn't check to see how thinly traded the stock was, otherwise I'd have been more circumspect. At 11:85, I shorted again in an equal $ amount. My average price was around 11.43. Over the last few days I scaled out. It was difficult because of such low volume and big bid/ask spreads. I used limit orders. In the end, I made of profit--but I'm not taking any credit, just luck and risk taking. I just couldn't see that dog not come down with some patience coupled with a little weakness in the overall market.

marcusid ITRN: a stop at 11:15 wouldn't have saved me. Due to the size of my position, I'd have taken out so many sellers in market depth, the stock could have gone to 12:00, and my average fill would have been close to where the stock went short term: 11.80. Next time around I wouldn't trade a thinly traded stock and if I did, only a small position. To equalize the differential in profit/loss on trades due to the price of the stock, I always enter with the same dollar amount. Can't ever do that with a stock like ITRN. So that's my lesson learned.
