Gantra the thing about trading and investing is that we each have to find a way of being satisfied with the returns and success we are acheiving at some reasonable level. If one is forever dissatisfied and trying to make more and more, one risks falling into a dynamic that can result in financial ruin or severe drawdown. I'm happy with my 1% piece of HWAY.

Gantra i don't really get the terror premium you are talking about. the war on terror can enhance valuations as well as reduce valuations, depending on the sector.

Gantra insurance is probably suffering some because of cost of another mega attack but defense industry is benefiting and other areas that are thriving from the new security and detection systems that are needed

Gantra conan, you could be right. But i'm a bit skeptical. The first attack was a big surprise and caused alot of economic dislocation with the grounding of airlines and the disruption to the stock markets in NY etc. I doubt the next one will be so dislocating or surprising. Even if it is a big attack. And the economy was weakening already before 9/11. The attack just made things worse.

conanboxer I understand your point. but Dow recovered....but multiples are much lower today compared to 6 years ago. Many reasons for that.....like raw materials, energy, housing concern...expected slow down...and terror premium so it is only one of the reasons.

conanboxer For example, Japanese market has not recovered as much as other market. Part of the reason is North Korea issue. A day like yesterday, Japanese market was down huge because of N. Korea's nuclear testing....and lingering concerns.
Gantra yes. I went to a Level 3 training session hosted by WIlliam o'neil & Co and they mentioned that this expansion was not seeing much multiple expansion. They also though there were many reasons. My feeling is that it is residue from the 2000 millenial mega bubble still working it's way through the system more than anything else.
