jy: Nextel Partners (NXTP:Nasdaq - commentary - research) rose 4% after TheStreet.com reported that Sprint Nextel (S:NYSE - commentary - research) is preparing to acquire the affiliate during the next few weeks. Sprint, which owns almost 33% of the wireless service provider, downplayed the speculation in an interview, but people familiar with the company said the deal could be worth about $7 billion, or $30 a share, for Nextel Partners shareholders. Shares were recently trading up $1.11 to $27.22
