bearrally: when do you think

scottrade will stel a few pennies off every trade
and not sure they will be fast enough for this kind
of trading...

though but it worked out on couple of the trades
today
steveg: you on the scottrade
elite brady?
brady: no.... i only have 20K
and you need 25

Vegas

Ken-ST Moderator: ok JP
Ken-ST Moderator: have a good
one
Ken-ST Moderator: even realy?
Ken-ST Moderator: wow
Cale: Evan, you live in Vegas?
evan: yes sir
James-ST Moderator: wow evan,
make sure to hook up with bearrally
James-ST Moderator: guy is
there all the time
jg: it is not snowing in las
vegas!
jy: Snowing in Vegas !!
Cale: can I come Vist? I am
having a Vegas Itch real bad
James-ST Moderator: Really,
snowing in Vegas????
James-ST Moderator: unreal
evan: it is snowing a lot right
now. I think it is time to go snowboarding
tomorrow.
steveg: I've been to vegas in
winter... can be downright freezing especially at
night
st: Ken, Why is it that when a
stock break through LOD/HOD, the volume and momentum
picks up? Is it because lots of traders ALL USE this
SAME trading method?
Cale: vist = visit
James-ST Moderator: I went to
Vegas around Thanksgiving and New year's once, got
30's at night......no snow though......thought it
would be too dry over there for snow
evan: it usually is too dry.
it may only snow once a year. I guess today is the
day.
Ken-ST Moderator: no st
Ken-ST Moderator: fear
Ken-ST Moderator: its fear
st: I see. greed too in this
case for HOD.
James-ST Moderator: yes
st: Got it! :)
steveg: hey anybody out there
interested in trading strategies? I'm looking to
diversify my setups. if so whisper me and I'll
share. right now i only play 2 and i'd like to do
more
James-ST Moderator: yes, very
good...... we encourage you guys to share trading
ideas and such...... many methods out there.
evan: has anyone done or heard
of pair trading?
James-ST Moderator: but, no
matter what strategy you employ, keep in mind always
enter a trade with a Stop in mind that you will
adhere to......
JR: please don't whisper, we'd
love to hear to
JR: too
James-ST Moderator: Control
losses and decions with a pre-planned stop.....the
profits will come.
James-ST Moderator: But a huge
loss as you are begging and praying for a stock to
move your way can wipe you out.......
James-ST Moderator: decisions
steveg: worthwhile to spend
alot of time backtesting and studying before
trading.
Cale: Yes, make sure you always
have toys to come play again someother day
steveg: evan what is pair
trading?
James-ST Moderator: lol cale
James-ST Moderator: need to
keep that quote in mind
gd: trms incredible
Cale: How old do you think
CNBC's Erin is?
evan: it is when you take two
stocks that are similar and long one short the
other.
JR: if they are similar,
wouldn't they trade similarly, loss/profit offset
each other?
steveg: my other set up plays
between the previous days ohlc lines and todays o,h,
and l lines.
steveg: but i use stochastics,
ma's and a correlating index to confirm movements
st: oops sorry.
evan: yes, but one usually
trades faster than the other. Best of breed, I
think. I was curious if anyone does. Haven't tried
it yet.
Cale: James, did you see TRMS
over $14 now
Ken-ST Moderator: Ok gang,
logging out for today. I will see you all next week
Monday
Ken-ST Moderator: James will
take you to the close
Ken-ST Moderator: Take care
Ken-ST Moderator: have a great
weekend
James-ST Moderator: cale, are
you still in?
steveg: but rate of success for
me has been 75-80%
Clyde-Harmon Trading: If you
have a pair in the same industry, pairs trading is
supposed to eliminate industry and market risk. Its
a conservative strategy
Cale: Nope, I wish
am: nice weekend everyone
James-ST Moderator: you too am
James-ST Moderator: Questions
or omments?
steveg: any triggers still
active?
evan: it stopped snowing.
sunny again
James-ST Moderator: Market is
currently trading under the 50 ema on the 5 minute
chart, stochastics are down.
James-ST Moderator: ADT..but
far away......
James-ST Moderator: ADTN
James-ST Moderator: Gang,we
strongly suggest that a 5 minute candlestick chart
of the SPX be kept open to give you a visual of
current market conditions, overlay this chart with
5, 20 and 50 ema and slow stochastics. You will
find that this will help you with your personal
daytrading, giving you the “heartbeat” of the
market.
steveg: oh yeah nearly forgot
James-ST Moderator: Only one
hour left.......
James-ST Moderator: How did
everyone do this week? It was a rough week for
us....but looking at the SPX for the week.....very
tight range.....in fact i think we are ending today
right where we started on Monday......
James-ST Moderator: Making or
breaking even during flat markets is a
bonus......when the market is in an
uptrend/downtrend and a lot of stocks are moving is
when you will rake.
steveg: man im getting killed
on slippage. my avg loss nearly 3x my avg win on
type b plays
sam: What do you mean a “rough
week”?
You’re up + 15%
James-ST Moderator:
hmmm.....keep those stops, and examine secondary
exit strategies.....best way to catch runners......
James-ST Moderator: really, wow
nice sam....seemed rough with the inactive market.
James-ST Moderator: even on the
8% days i only remember the one loss.........
Cale: James, do you make trades
throug out the day also?
sam: My first week here, but
seems hard to match your results because of slippage
James-ST Moderator: yes, mostly
futures though
jg: like ko and pep
brady: what happened to the
left side?
brady: its gone
James-ST Moderator: yes sam,
but on the flip side.....on days we have many
triggers with huge runners we may only book say 3%,
when the triggers have well exceeded.....5%+
each.....kind of a trade off......
Cale: Sam, I found the same
thing but if you can set Alerts with in your Trading
platform you can get very close
sam: How to determine which to
stay in and which not?
jg: brady..put cursor on left
and hit backspace...
James-ST Moderator: yeah brady,
thanks jg......that should refresh left panel
jg: i learned from
experience!!1
James-ST Moderator: sam, we
have secondary exit strategies, and others here have
their own......some go a straight 1% trailing stop,
or like increment .10 or .25 (depending on the stock
price of course)
James-ST Moderator: we recomend
using the 5 or 1 minute charts, and identiying the
last break below the 20 ema on each, and setting a
stop a penny below that.....that will usually
indicate a break in trend
James-ST Moderator: the videos
explain it much better
Cale: anyone here have that
video?
Cale: I was wondring if its
worth it?
James-ST Moderator: It features
me doing a song and dance, that is worth it.......
Cale: very nice James, I would
play to see that!!
Cale: oh wait wasnt that clip
on HBO last weekend?
Cale: NO one has the
SwingTrades.com Video?
James-ST Moderator: [img
id=em-5]
Cale: hears crickets
Harris: yes, left window has
disapeared here too
Cale: Sam: most of the time I
am up even though these guys show a down day
Cale: just need to get a feel
for how to play their selections.
James-ST Moderator: harris, did
you try clicking on it and pressing backspace?
Harris: ah, that works!
James-ST Moderator: [img
id=em-8]
brady: me 2 again..
James-ST Moderator: try that
backspace refresh
sam: so you pick and choose too
cale?
